We offer individual, relationship, and outdoor therapy. Our team specializes in identity, sexuality, and connection.

You can schedule an appointment by using our online booking system through Simple Practice: https://dragonflycw.clientsecure.me. If you are a new client and would like our help in selecting the therapist that is the best match for your needs, please schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our Directors or email us at info@dragonflycw.com.

Your first session will be an intake assessment where you and your therapist will discuss your concerns, they will gather a psychosocial history, and explore your goals and what you hope to gain from therapy.

Therapy sessions are 60 minutes long.

The frequency of your sessions will depend on your specific goals and needs. Some clients attend weekly, while others may come bi-weekly or on a less frequent basis. You and your therapist will collaborate to create a schedule that works best for your situation.

We have chosen a private pay model because we do not embrace the forced-diagnosis, pathologizing approach to counseling adopted by Health Insurance companies. That said, we accept FSA/HSA payments and can provide you with a superbill for you to seek insurance reimbursement, if so you wish.

We understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give us at least a 24-hour notice to avoid any cancellation fees. You can cancel your session through the client portal or reach out to your therapist via the messaging app in the client portal.

Yes, your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions required by law, such as instances involving harm to yourself or others. Your therapist will explain confidentiality and its limits during your first session.

Absolutely! Please visit our TEAM page (LINK) to find the best match for your needs. If you need assistance choosing the right therapist, please schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our Directors or email us at info@dragonflycw.com.

We have chosen Emotionally-Focused Therapy as our primary treatment modality, but our therapists are trained in various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, trauma-informed therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. We tailor the treatment to meet your unique needs.

The length of therapy varies depending on the individual. Some clients seek short-term therapy to address a specific issue, while others benefit from long-term therapy to work through deeper concerns. Your therapist will work with you to determine the best course of action based on your progress and goals.

It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. If you feel that your therapist isn’t the right fit, don’t hesitate to discuss your concerns. We can also help you transition to a different therapist if needed.

Yes, we offer secure teletherapy sessions for clients who prefer to meet virtually. This is a great option for those who may have scheduling difficulties or prefer the convenience of remote sessions.

If you are ready to seek help that is non-pathologizing and accepting to address feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that get in the way of living your life and your relationships authentically, Dragonfly is right for you. We recommend scheduling an initial consultation to explore how therapy at Dragonfly may benefit you.

Yes, we offer couples counseling and can support you incidentally if there is something specific you would like to address in a safe space with a friend or family member. If you’d like to bring someone to your session, please let your therapist know in advance to make sure you and your therapist are on the same page regarding the goals of the session.

WHY WE DO NOT WORK DIRECTLY WITH INSURANCE

After thoughtful consideration, we have chosen not to work with insurance companies and rather operate as out-of-network providers. Here’s why:

Health insurance companies cover counseling only if a formal diagnosis is provided, regardless of whether one is necessary and therapeutically helpful. This means that to accept insurance plans, counseling centers are effectively forced to assign every client a diagnosis just to meet insurance requirements. We find this practice unfair and potentially harmful. Indeed, therapy diagnoses stays on your permanent medical record and may be used in the future to justify denial of coverage for life insurance and other benefits.

When insurance is involved, not only does your diagnosis and personal information become part of your permanent medical records, but it may also may be shared with third parties, effectively taking away from you control over your own information and your mental health journey.

Insurance companies often dictate how many sessions you may have, how long they may last, and how frequently you may be able to meet with your counselor. We believe these decisions should be made between you and your therapist based on your needs —not by an insurance provider based on economic considerations.

These days, many insurance plans come with high deductibles, meaning you are often paying out of pocket or using HSA funds for most of the year—whether you are seeing an in-network or out-of-network provider. Even when your deductible is met, mental health coverage can still be limited.

Dealing with insurance companies can take a lot of time, time we would rather spend focusing on your care and well-being rather than perpetuating a system that is not centered around meeting your therapy objectives.

HOW CAN I SUBMIT SUPERBILL?

Submitting a superbill to an insurance company for out-of-network counseling reimbursement typically involves the following steps:

Ask your therapist to enable our Client Management System to generate superbills for you. A superbill is basically a detailed invoice that includes all the necessary information for insurance reimbursement, such as your diagnosis, therapist’s name, license number, NPI number, the CPT code for the service provided, the session date, and the amount paid. Please note that we will be unable to generate a superbill if that means assigning a diagnosis exclusively for billing purposes.

Before submitting, review your insurance policy to understand your out-of-network benefits. This includes checking if you have met your deductible, the percentage of reimbursement, and any limitations on the number of sessions covered.

Most insurance companies require you to fill out a claim form, which can usually be downloaded from their website. This form will ask for basic information about you, your insurance plan, and the services provided.

Attach the superbill to the completed claim form. Ensure all the information is accurate and complete to avoid delays in processing.

You can submit the claim either online through your insurance company’s portal, by mail, or sometimes via fax, depending on the insurance company’s preferences. If submitting by mail, be sure to keep copies of all documents. Please make sure to specify that any payments should be made to you directly and not to the provider or the center.

After submission, monitor your claim status through your insurance company’s portal or customer service. If there are any issues, be prepared to provide additional documentation or clarification.

Let’s talk about what we can do together!
